About the workshop

Every piece is
built by hand.

Black Forge Steel is run by Kamil Mirza out of Chhattarpur, New Delhi. The workshop takes on aluminium and steel fabrication, welding, iron gates and doors, and wood work — cutting and finishing each piece for the space it's going into, rather than working off a fixed catalogue.

Most jobs come the same way: a gate for one house, a railing for a staircase in another, a wood-panelled door set into a steel frame for a third. Materials range from aluminium sections and mild steel to stainless steel sheet and wood infill, worked with cutting, welding and finishing done by hand, on site, from the first cut to the final polish.

Materials

Raw stock,
cut to spec.

Aluminium sections and steel bar and sheet are cut and worked to the measurements of each job — the same stock that ends up as door frames, grille work, railings and gates.

A design worked out with the client first, then built and fitted piece by piece.

Rolling Shutters

Rolling shutters fabricated and fitted for shop fronts and godowns, built to take daily wear.

Electronic Shutters

Motorised shutters fitted with remote control, so the shop opens and closes at the press of a button.
